West picked up their first league win of 2026 last Wednesday with a 3-2 victory over FC Isle of Man.

The Ravens travelled over to the mainland having never picked up as much as a single point at Brookburn Road, and they would have felt that another loss was looming when West raced into an early 2-0 lead.

The first goal came courtesy of a smart finish from winger Kaleb Parkinson. He received the ball on the right hand side of the penalty area, skipped away from his man and bounced a shot in off the far post. Ten minutes later it was Ben Elliott who doubled that lead. He was fed the ball in a central position by Jordan Lazenbury, and steadied himself before knocking a shot under the visiting keeper.

West saw our the remainder of the first period and went into the break with a solid lead that didn't look in any danger.

It then looked like the game was put beyond doubt in the 73rd minute when West added a third. This time it was Jack Banister who added his name to the scoresheet as he controlled a ball on his chest and looped a half-volley into the goal at the Shed end of the ground.

It took until the 82nd minute for the visitors to pull one back, and they did so from the penalty spot after Ollie Martin brought down Ste Whitley, who then converted the resulting kick.

That goal looks like it would be a consolation until IoM then recorded a second in the 90th minute through Michael Williams.

West did then have a nervy final few minutes of stoppage time to navigate, but they managed to do just that and claim three valuable points in the race for promotion.
