About West Didsbury & Chorlton AFC Women

West Didsbury & Chorlton AFC announced their intention to form a women’s team in December 2016 following the appointment of Chorltonian Ladies manager Paul Caddick, with the intention of beginning play in 2017.

Following Chorltonian’s decision not to continue with women’s football, an agreement was made to transfer the team across with the majority of the squad making the transition to play in the NWWRFL Division One South.

The team finished 2nd in NWWRFL Division One South in their first season, reaching the semi-finals of the Manchester Women’s FA Cup and the first round proper of the SSE Women’s FA Cup.

The following season, 2018/19, was one to remember. A new Development Team was added to the setup, and both sides ended the year as champions. The First Team won Division One South unbeaten to earn promotion, while the Development Team took the Greater Manchester Women's Football League Division 2 title in their very first campaign.

The team has kept climbing since. Paul Caddick stepped down in 2020 and Nathan Soulby took charge, before Ieuan Evans was appointed manager in 2022. Under Evans, West reached the Lancashire FA Women's Challenge Cup final in 2024, losing out to Burnley FC Women, and posted a best league finish of fifth in 2023/24. The First Team competes in the North West Women's Regional League Premier Division, while the Reserves continue to bring players through in the Greater Manchester Women's Football League.

Training is open to all and takes place on Wednesday evenings at Hardy Farm (M21 8FE) during the summer (winter training TBC) with matches taking place on Sundays at 2pm.
