West By Numbers | Billy Matthews

On Saturday, in our win at Stone Old Alleynians, Billy Matthews wore the West shirt for the 227th time - equalling Anthony Potts' club record total - with his next appearance set to take him to the top of the West's all-time list.

Anthony and Billy are the only players to surpass 200 appearances since West entered semi-professional football in 2012, with 21 others reaching a century.

We'll officially mark Billy's achievement in due course, but we'd firstly like to take a look back at his West career so far, in numbers.

Billy has found the net 40 times for West, including a hat-trick against AFC Liverpool and a brace against Rocester, putting him in joint-sixth on our goalscorers list, level with Tom Bailey.

Of his 40 West goals, 23 have been scored at Brookburn Road.

It's quite incredible that this is the only period of West's semi-professional history - now stretching 678 games - that neither player has been involved in.

FA Vase appearances Billy has made for West - a club record itself - including scoring in the 2022/23 Quarter Final against Ascot United.

Billy's treble in the 6-1 win at AFC Liverpool in April 2025 saw him become the 13th and most recent West player to score a hat-trick.
