FA Vase | 2nd Round Draw

At 1pm today (Monday 12 October), the FA announced the draw for the Second Round of the FA Vase. West Men have been drawn at home against Prestwich Heys, in a tie scheduled to be played on Saturday 31st October.

Though the qualifying rounds kicked off in August, due to our progress in last year's edition when we exited at the Quarter Final stage, we were given a bye to this stage of the competition. Prestwich, meanwhile, entered at the First Round, defeating Charnock Ricard away to progress.

Last year's run to the third round was the joint best run Heys have ever put together in the Vase - a feat they would match if they were to win at Brookburn Road. They are familiar foes, having competed alongside us in the North West Counties Football League Premier Division from 2022/23 until our lateral move over the summer. Their last visit to Brookburn in April of this year ended in a 5-2 win for a West side under the charge of Steven Yarwood.

Under the rules of the competition, the tie will be played to completion on the day. Should the score be level after 90 minutes, there will be no extra time, and progression will be settled by a penalty competition.
