West Women kick off the 2026/27 NWWRL season on Sunday by hosting Mancunian Unity.

It follows a strong pre-season for West in which we won three, drew one and lost one match. The latter two results came against teams who are a step higher than West in the National League system, and the preparations for the forthcoming season were closed out with convincing wins against Leek Town Ladies and Wythenshawe Town Women.

West have undoubtedly been handed a challenging opening fixture for this campaign. Mancunian Unity came 2nd last season in the NWWRL Premier Division behind runaway leaders AFC Fylde.

They also won the ADP Cup after beating Chester FC at Chester's Diva Stadium in May, which followed a 4-1 over West at Brookburn Road in the semi-finals.

Sunday's opponents have elected not to publish the scores of any of their pre-season matches.

Despite Unity having been a strong force in the NWWRL Premier Division since winning promotion in 2024 - which itself followed three consecutive promotions after only forming in 2019 - West do have a reasonably good record over the six games we have played against our opponents from Oldham. West have held Unity to draws in each of the last two seasons despite the Bees being title challengers on each occasion, and West also recorded a 10-0 win when the sides met in the 2019/20 Manchester Challenge Cup.

Remember that Sunday's game - as with all West Women home league games - is included in your West season ticket. Make sure you're there to show your support as we look to start the 2026/27 campaign on the front foot.

Season tickets remain available to purchase HERE.
