West Women's first away trip of the 2026/27 NWWRL season comes on Wednesday night as we travel to FC St Helens.
The match follows an opening-day 1-0 defeat to a strong Mancunian Unity side. For more on that match, click the link here for our full match report.
Sunday was certainly an unusual opening day for the NWWRL Premier Division season, with two of the six fixtures ending 8-2, and a third finishing 6-2. The latter of these games involved Wednesday's opponents, as they were comfortably beaten by Nantwich Town - who themselves visit Brookburn Road next Wednesday.
This was FC St Helens' first ever match at Step 5 of the Women's National League System. They have had an impressive rise through the divisions since forming in 2021, and their trajectory can be read in this document on their website. That timeline only runs as far as 2025. Their progress continued though, and in the 2025/26 season they eased their way to the NWWRL Division One Central title whilst only losing two league games all season.
